Roberto Escobar launches Diet Bitcoin (DDX)

Roberto Escobar, the brother of notorious Columbian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, has launched his own cryptocurrency.

Diet Bitcoin (DDX) is a hard fork of the Bitcoin network and promises to be a faster and lighter version of Bitcoin.

Roberto’s venture investment firm, Escobar Inc, has already launched an initial coin offering (ICO) for Diet Bitcoin.

Users can buy tokens with a 96-percent introductory discount at $2, down from $50.

The total supply of 1,000,000 DDX will be split into three separate token sales: 300,000 DDX will be sold at $50 (currently discounted to $2), another 300,000 will go for $100 a coin, and the remaining 400,000 will be priced at $1,000, according to the Diet Bitcoin website.

Escobar Inc COO Daniel Reitberg says investors shouldn’t be worried and should buy as much Diet Bitcoin as possible, saying:

“Everyone should listen to these news, go to and buy as many dietbitcoin’s as you can afford.

“The value will be very high as we are identical in numbers to Bitcoin, except we are 4000 times cheaper right now.”

Olof Gustafsson, Escobar Inc’s CEO, reiterated his colleague’s sentiment, adding:

Olof Gustafsson, Escobar Inc’s CEO, reiterated his colleague’s sentiment, adding:

“Why would anyone on the planet buy bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency where there is no real team behind it.

“We at Escobar Inc are committed to support the cryptocurrency dietbitcoin fully and are managing the day-to-day operations of this new currency.”

The DDX white paper proudly boasts its association with Pablo Escobar and can be viewed here.

Nothing revolutionary

Creating a spin-off from the Bitcoin network is nothing new.

In fact, there is software that lets virtually anybody create a Bitcoin fork in just a few clicks.

So, you may want to think twice if you’re investing in DDX.

To accompany his new cryptocurrency, Mr. Escobar has also released a new book.

Entitled, Pablo Escobar’s Diet Bitcoin, the publication documents his motivation for launching a new digital asset.

The book can be purchased from Amazon for $8, but it’s also available for free from the official Diet Bitcoin site here.

Conspiracy theory

One of the claims made by Roberto Escobar is that Bitcoin wasn’t created by the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto.

Instead, he insists that it was created as part of a conspiracy by the American government, saying:

“The world is going to see that this was created by them.

“And when they see it, it is too late, and when CIA founds out that the world knows about this, the CIA is going to sell all of their coins, and they will destroy the value of Bitcoin.”

Whether Diet Bitcoin will be a success remain to be seen.

Roberto, however, is extremely optimistic it’s future.

The business says the majority of cryptocurrencies currently available are “fraudulent,” with the exception of his own, of course.

He vows that his Diet Bitcoin will stand triumphant when all others fall, saying in his book:

“You can stick with your worthless coins.

“Keep the Ethereum, Keep the TRON, keep the Ripple, keep the Bitcoin.

“You will see what happens.

“They will all go to zero, almost zero.

“But not my coin.

“Because my coin, this is going to be my new work in life.”
